According to the announcement, the top five players each earned 100 STEEM at the conclusion of the event — worth just under $50 at present.
The event was hosted and sponsored by Goldmatters, a consultant at Mene, a company that crafts gold and platinum investment jewelry sold by gram weight. The first prize winner also won a $100 Mene gift certificate.
Steem Monsters allows players to collect, trade and battle NFT characters by leveraging the Steem (STEEM) blockchain. The game now has over 2,000 daily active users and more than $5,600 paid out in tournament prize money.
