Recently leaked images from Consensus 2019, the major cryptocurrency conference currently taking place in New York City, suggest eBay (EBAY) is preparing to adopt cryptocurrencies.

According to the pictures that have been circulating on social media, eBay has seemingly created an advertising campaign centered around virtual currencies and digital collectibles.

One ad allegedly reads, “Digital Collectibles. It’s happening on eBay.” If true, this would mean that eBay is moving toward supporting collectibles represented by non-fungible tokens on various blockchains. This would make sense as eBay has long been the go-to platform for buying and selling collectibles, with perhaps the most notable case being Beanie Babies.

If true, eBay wouldn’t be the first major merchant-focused platform to open up to crypto in recent months. Yelp (YELP) has started to allow app users in various locations to filter businesses by whether or not they accept cryptocurrency.
