Famous actor and tech-savvy investor Ashton Kutcher recently appeared on The Ellen Show to present Ellen DeGeneres with a surprise of her own.
Kutcher is known for starring in hit TV shows like That 70s Show and the Netflix Original The Ranch. Lately, much of his fame has come from investments in innovative companies like Uber and AirBNB. Kutcher has also started investing in cryptocurrency platforms like Ripple (XRP). Alongside his business partner Guy Oseary, Kutcher gave DeGeneres a donation of $4 Million in XRP on behalf of the Ripple Foundation.
The gift is to be applied towards her wildlife fund, which was set up earlier this year by her wife, Portia de Rossi. The Ellen DeGeneres Wildlife Fund plans to help save the endangered gorillas in the country of Rwanda.

Kutcher explained that Ripple has a desire to give back to the community, and this isn’t the first time that they have done something this generous. Two months ago in March, Ripple donated a massive $29 Million in XRP to help public schools. Ripple was also part of a number of cryptocurrencies that were raised and donated to the sum of $14 Million to help homelessness in San Francisco, California earlier this month.
On the show, Kutcher admitted to DeGeneres that his investment company, Sound Ventures, is currently invested in Ripple. While in a meeting with executives to discuss the investment, he said the topic of helping worthy causes in society came up.
“We [told Ripple], there’s this amazing human being and all they ever do is think about other people they can give to. Whether it’s in New Orleans, whether it’s in Montecito, whether it’s the people that come here, the people out there, you’re always thinking about everyone else and we wanted to show you that people are thinking about you.”
DeGeneres appeared a little emotional as she accepted the large gift from Kutcher, who also happens to be her friend and neighbor. She plans to leave on vacation soon to start setting up her campus in Rwanda to work with the gorillas. No doubt that $4 Million in XRP will go a long way in helping her cause.
