As part of an ongoing effort to clean up Overwatch League and Overwatch Contenders, a professional esports feeder league for Overwatch, Blizzard has announced a new system of moderation that requires users who wish to participate in Twitch chat to link their Battle.net and Twitch accounts.

According to the recent announcement, the new system is designed to improve the viewer experience for the Overwatch Path to Pro ecosystem.

“The program will be trialed during 2018 Season 3 quarterfinals matches across all regions, from Dec. 28, 2018, through Jan. 12, 2019. The Path to Pro team then will evaluate the program’s overall effect on creating a more positive viewing experience,” Blizzard said.

This news comes less than a week after Blizzard introduced a new platform feature called the ‘Player Discipline Tracker’ — an official list of players who have been disciplined for infractions in Overwatch League.

Moving forward, the Overwatch League office will conduct a full review of each new player to determine if disciplinary action is needed for activities such as account boosting, throwing matches or general toxicity.
