According to the announcement, the platform provides data drawn from a Bitcoin Core full node and supports SegWit, bech32, and other modern Bitcoin features. As it stands, Blockstream.info is designed primarily for the average user, but the company notes that as things progress, more features will be released specifically for developers.
The explorer also provides peg-in and peg-out monitoring for transactions between Bitcoin and the Liquid Network, which is the first-ever Bitcoin sidechain designed to provides fast, secure and confidential transactions for major financial institutions, exchanges and market makers.
“Our original driver for building the block explorer was for users on the Liquid sidechain to cross-check transactions. Also, Liquid functionaries themselves benefit from the explorer as a dashboard to monitor the network’s activity,” reads the announcement.
