Coins & Steel looks to be one of the more substantial blockchain RPGs developed to date, with a look similar to popular games like Runescape. This immersive experience should help drive user growth and unit and item demand.
According to the game’s creators, “We want to focus on an RPG where player choice truly matters. The game boasts a variety of classes with a branching skill system, as well as features designed around fortifications, owning or defending your own slice of the world.”
Similar to traditional RPGs, Coins & Steel features three character classes, a number of in-game weapons and other items that can be crafted based on knowledge gained while playing, and PvE/PvP battles that allow players to level up. Players can even choose from a number of different master professions, including alchemy and weapons smith, to make their character truly unique.
Coins & Steel is fueled by its own in-game ERC-20 token, STEEL (STL), which can be earned for in-game activities and can be converted to Ethereum (ETH) or fiat at any time. The game also leverages a combination of ERC-20 and ERC-721 tokens to represent in-game elements like resources, pets and items. All of which can be bought, sold and traded on the open marketplace.
Additionally, the game’s pet system allows users to import their kitties from CryptoKitties. Once in-game, the kitties gain unique characteristics based on their DNA, meaning each has a unique appearance and combat capabilities. The integration may be the first real use case for CryptoKitties.
Coins & Steel made the decision to move onto Loom Network to improve UI/UX and security, to bring game logic on-chain and leverage DAppChains for instant transactions to improve gameplay.
LOOM currently has a $28.7 million market cap, making it the 109th largest cryptocurrency.
