The upcoming adventure role-playing game has players smash-hit swiping to decide who claims the right to sit on the Iron Throne as Cersei Lannister, Daenerys Targaryen, Jon Snow and more in a tale of complex relationships within the Seven Kingdoms.
The game serves as a spinoff to the original Reigns but remains true to the themes of Game of Thrones by maintaining that all rulers must die. Multiple outcomes and endings will be available, meaning no one game will progress the same as another. Various events occur outside the usual confines and timelines of the show, meaning Sansa Stark could marry Jaime Lannister if the user wishes.
Through strategic play, users must outwit their political rivals by employing various tactics that extend their reign. Changing between each queen and king will allow players to unlock challenges and mysteries that lead to unique events.
Players sift through challenges and partake in mini-games through combat that adopts a swiping play-style. Most characters appear as cards, which may be swiped left or right to change the fate of the Seven Kingdoms forever. Some cards may be torn, while others may be banished or adopted at the player’s discretion.
The iconic music of the show will be replicated in the soundtrack, which is being scored by Ramin Djawadi, who worked on the first season of Game of Thrones.
For those looking to satiate their itch for Game of Thrones before the launch of the final season next year, Reigns: Game of Thrones will be available for iOS, Android, and PC October 18.
