Decentraland (MANA), the first virtual reality platform owned by its users, announced Tuesday that customizable avatars are coming to Genesis City.

According to the announcement, for a small MANA fee, users will be able to create an Avatar from hundreds of different characteristics, ranging from facial features to outfits. Additionally, users can claim a unique name on the blockchain.

Each Avatar also gets a Passport that functions as a single sign-on identity across the metaverse.

While the functionality has not been released, users can sign-up here to receive alerts and become an early adopter. The project notes that 50 lucky winners will be randomly selected to receive limited edition accessories from a not-yet-disclosed partner.

This news comes less than a month after MANA was added to the AltDex Blockchain Gaming Index (ALTGME), a crypto index that focuses on coins and tokens directly related to blockchain gaming.

MANA is currently down 8.6% on the day to $0.051202, giving the token a $53.7 million market cap.
