Rumors had been flying for weeks that PotCoin (POT), an obscure cryptocurrency created to facilitate transactions within the legalized cannabis industry, was in talks with representatives of Dennis Rodman to sponsor his trip to the US-North Korea summit in Singapore this week.
Rodman confirmed his interest in attending the much-anticipated summit and aims to provide “moral support” to President Trump and Kim Jong Un. Now, in what seems like an elaborate marketing campaign, a spokesman for the cryptocurrency PotCoin has confirmed that it is in discussions with Rodman to sponsor his trip to Singapore.
Rodman’s connection with PotCoin
This is not the first partnership between PotCoin and Rodman. The Basketball legend’s past trips to North Korea have been paid for by the cryptocurrency company. During his 2017 visit to North Korea, Rodman had worn a PotCoin T-shirt and baseball cap which instantly had bullish effects on the coin. The cryptocurrency shot up more than 90 percent from the previous day at that time. The recent news also had similar effects raising the coins value roughly 5 percent.

In hyperbole, Shawn Perez, a PotCoin spokesperson has even gone as far as suggesting that Rodman, Trump and Un jointly deserve a Nobel Peace Prize for their efforts to establish peace.
“The PotCoin team as a community has been incredibly supportive of Rodman’s peace mission from the beginning. We’re thrilled to see how the political climate has improved between North Koreans and the US since he became involved.”
Rodman has long been famous for his involvement in North Korean peace talks and his well known for his friendship with Kim. He first traveled to North Korea in 2013 as part of a trip with members of the Harlem Globetrotters. He then returned two more times that year and established relations with Kim, who is reportedly an enthusiastic fan of the 90s-era Chicago Bulls.
Although he has shares warm relationship with both the North Korean and American leaders, his role in the summit is not yet made public by the White House nor Rodman’s spokesperson have said anything about it.
