Video game publishing giant Electronic Arts (EA) trolled the cryptocurrency community on Thursday with a cryptic tweet that read, “invest in Crypto.”

While some got excited about the potential for loot boxes on the blockchain, EA quickly followed up with a retweet of Apex Legends, which detailed the upcoming release of the battle royale title’s Season 3: Meltdown, set to launch on October 1.

This upcoming season features a new character, Crypto, who is described as, “Cool, calm, collected. Crypto deploys specialized surveillance drones to stay in the fight and out of the spotlight.”

For those who remember, SludgeFeed reported the new character was part of a leak that occurred back in March. Around that time, we also reported that Respawn Entertainment’s wildly popular battle royale title Apex Legends had quietly made a reference to blockchain technology via a skin for one of the characters.

Clearly, someone at EA is a fan of cryptocurrency. At least enough to build some references into one of their largest hits of the past few years.
