Elon Musk’s Safe Word? Cryptocurrency.

Tesla (TSLA) CEO Elon Musk has been on a crypto kick in recent months, touching on everything from Dogecoin (DOGE) to Bitcoin memes.

On Saturday, Musk continued interacting with the crypto community, responding to CT influencer CryptoCobain (yes, Kurt lives on in the cryptosphere), who jokingly asked Musk to sue him for saying that Musk is not Satoshi. The joke is a reference to the ongoing legal battle between Craig Wright, the creator of Bitcoin SV (BSV), and a growing list of Twitter users who have asserted that he isn’t Satoshi Nakamoto.

In his response, Musk simply stated, “Cryptocurrency is my safe word,” seemingly a play on BDSM sex acts, where pre-arranged words are commonly used to end an activity. A pure meme.

While Musk has claimed his favorite cryptocurrency is DOGE, it’s currently unclear if the billionaire actually owns any or if he was just joking around. He has previously indicated that he owns 0.25 BTC, which a friend sent him a few years ago.

Interestingly, Musk’s involvement in the cryptocurrency community, like that of Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, has done little to convince the mainstream critics and skeptics — even after Square (SQ) moved into the space.
