Fanatics, a global leader for licensed sports merchandise, has entered into a partnership with Overwatch League, a professional esports league for Overwatch, to sell apparel online and at events.


According to the announcement, the agreement between Overwatch League and Fanatics will begin before the start of the 2019 Overwatch League season, which kicks off on February 14.

“Our collaboration with Fanatics—the first between a major esports league and a global sports merchandising company—allows us to reach even more fans and to provide them with high-quality merchandise and a best-in-class retail experience where they can shop for all our great Overwatch League gear,” said Brandon Snow, chief revenue officer of Activision Blizzard’s esports leagues.

Overwatch League gear will be first made available online, with additional products planned for each regular-season matches at Blizzard Arena Los Angeles and for other league events. Apparel for the following teams will be made available in February: Atlanta Reign, Chengdu Hunters, Guangzhou Charge, Hangzhou Spark, Paris Eternal, Toronto Defiant, Vancouver Titans and the Washington Justice.

“Esports has been on our radar for some time now and we are incredibly excited to mark our first deal with the best in the world in Activision Blizzard around their incredibly successful Overwatch League,” added Ross Tannenbaum, head of special projects for Fanatics.

This marks the second major apparel deal signed in recent weeks.

As we previously reported, Nike (NKE) has inked a 5-year sponsorship deal with the Chinese League of Legends Pro League (LPL) for $144 million. Similar to Overwatch League deal, the sponsorship will bring Nike apparel and other accessories to the LPL.
