The momentum continued this week after 343 Industries announced that South by Southwest (SXSW) Gaming will host the Halo Championship Series Invitational with a $100,000 prize pool in Austin, Texas from March 15-17.

According to the announcement, the top 6 teams from the Halo Classic have been invited for a double elimination Halo 3 showdown. These teams include:
- TOX Gaming
- Denial Esports
- Team Reciprocity
- LUX Gaming
- Status Quo
“With the HCS Invitational, we’re looking to bring new flavors of entertainment to Halo esports in unique and exciting ways,” said 343 Industries’ lead esports producer Tahir “Tashi” Hasandjekic. “Being at SXSW Gaming is a perfect fit for the HCS Invitational, and we’re excited to be a part of one of the largest cultural touchstone events in the world.”
In addition to the main event, there will be the Microsoft Store 2v2 Throwdown that will feature regional pros for a $5,000 prize pool and the $5,000 Big Team Battle Bonanza, which will feature pros, casters, content creators and fans.
Tickets are now available to attend SXSW Gaming and cost $20 per day.
