NEO (NEO), a blockchain platform for smart contracts often referred to as the Ethereum of China, has launched a Vulnerability Bounty Program to provide a channel for security experts to join the NEO development ecosystem through bounty-based rewards.

According to the announcement, the program is designed to find issues related to the “stability and security with design and implementation is within the scope, vulnerabilities with NEO website and related infrastructure on the NEO blockchain is out of the scope.”

Rewards will be based on risk assessment (OWASP risk rating methodology) with four rates of severity: Critical, High, Medium and Low. Developers who find critical issues stand to make up to $10,000 in NEO, while low severity issues cap out at $500 in NEO.

The announcement comes just a week after NEO launched a creative design competition, incentivizing designers with $30,000 in rewards to revamp the project’s website and icon.

These competitions appear to be part of the project’s push towards the launch of NEO 3.0, which is designed to address key technical areas to support the platform at scale.
