After discussing with the producers, we've decided to write Danny Masterson off of The Ranch. Yesterday was his last day of work, and we'll make new episodes in 2018 without him.

On Nov. 14, the Huffington Post reported that the LAPD case investigating Masterson for allegedly raping four women in the early 2000s had stalled despite “overwhelming” evidence. Since then, pressure has been mounting against Netflix’s decision to renew The Ranch for another season with Masterson involved, including one of his accusers comparing Netflix to the Church of Scientology in the Daily Beast.
For me, what Netflix has done feels like a continuation of how the Church of Scientology made me feel when I reported my rape to them, as well as how Danny Masterson made me feel when I would beg him for an apology, an explanation, anything.
Over 50 affidavits from Scientologists were used to discredit the original 2004 police report, according to the Huffington Post.
Masterson, a practicing Scientologist, claimed back in March that these “false allegations” were motivated by the anti-Scientology program, Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath, and that Leah Remini encouraged one of the accusers to contact the police.
Masterson’s representatives released the following statement regarding his dismissal,
I am obviously very disappointed in Netflix’s decision to write my character off of ‘The Ranch.’ From day one, I have denied the outrageous allegations against me. Law enforcement investigated these claims more than 15 years ago and determined them to be without merit. I have never been charged with a crime, let alone convicted of one.
In this country, you are presumed innocent until proven guilty. However, in the current climate, it seems as if you are presumed guilty the moment you are accused. I understand and look forward to clearing my name once and for all,” it added. “In the meantime, I want to express my gratitude to the cast and crew that I’ve worked so closely with over the past three seasons. I wish them nothing but success. I am also so thankful to the fans that have supported me and continue to do so.
