The latest classic video game franchise to earn its own live-action movie is none other than Sonic The Hedgehog, a high-speed platformer series launched in 1991 by Sega.
The first trailer for the new film has finally dropped, and the reception has been less than enthusiastic (oh well, Marvel fans paid to see a talking raccoon). Mostly, it seems that internet dwellers have focused on the fact that Sonic (Ben Schwartz) has human teeth, which is, admittedly, rather unsettling.

[Sonic the Hedgehog movie pitch meeting]
Jim Carrey: [chanting] teeth, teeth –
Director: teeth, TEETH

The film follows Sonic as he works with best friend Tom Wachowski (James Marsden) to stop the villainous Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) from capturing Sonic and using his immense powers for world domination.
Carrey’s role as Eggman has also gained a fair amount of attention, perhaps even overshadowing the main character based on the first trailer. While Danny DeVito would’ve unarguably been a better choice for the part, it seems some fans feel Carrey was a good pick.
Sonic the Hedgehog is set to release in November 2019.
