Panda Global, a professional esports organization based in the United States that competes in brawlers including Smash Bros, announced on Wednesday that it has signed British actor Asa Butterfield as a brand ambassador.
A new year and a new breed of Panda joins the family.
Welcome PG | Stimpy, @asabfb, the newest member to wear black & white. Catch him at Genesis!

Butterfield, who’s known for his starring roles in films like Ender’s Game and Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, will now stream content on Twitch, collaborate with other top players and appear in videos with the team’s content director, according to ESPN.
“I hope I can help introduce PG — and esports — into a whole new demographic. There are many people who have no idea what esports even are and will laugh at the idea of a ‘professional gamer,'” Butterfield told ESPN. “I think the players and the community that literally made people’s dreams a possibility deserve recognition.”
Also, I didn’t say this before but I’m hella proud to be joining the @PandaGlobal squad, keep an eye out for some cool stuff we’re working on. ?

Butterfield is well-versed in competitive gaming and even competed at the 2017 Nintendo World Championships in New York.
“Adding Asa to the team felt as natural as adding any player that truly has a passion for Smash, both the game and competitive scene,” Panda Global CEO Alan Bunney added. “To us, the difference between Asa joining Panda Global and other celebrities you see getting involved in esports is that he has a genuine love for scene, the community and the competition itself.”
