Adult Entertainment powerhouse Pornhub announced that they now accept payments in privacy-focused cryptocurrency Verge (XVG). Verge is a secure and anonymous cryptocurrency with a market cap north of a billion dollars and a dedicated community.

Pornhub’s official press release states:

“Building on Verge’s core values of security, anonymity and practicality, the introduction of this cryptocurrency as a means of payment Pornhub signifies an important foray into the future from the industry that is always on the cutting edge of technology.”

The company also released a quirky video to accompany the news:

According to a Medium post published by Verge core team member Stan Faas, the privacy coin was approached by Pornhub a month and a half ago. He says, “Without hesitation, we jumped on this opportunity with the understanding that it is destined to be one of the biggest adoptions of cryptocurrency in the entire industry.” The company needed to raise 75,000,000 XVG, or $3 million, in five days to fund the integration, marketing campaign, PR coverage, and hardware integration necessary to make the partnership a success. With the help of their community (not without some warranted speculation about the unannounced “potential partnership”), they pulled it off.

Verge ran into some troubling security breaches back in March 2018, when its Twitter account was briefly hacked. The hackers leveraged CEO Sunerok’s personal data leaked from the Yahoo databases. Recently, Verge was forced to hard fork after a 51 percent attack on its network.

Pornhub VP Corey Price told The Next Web, “As with penetrating any industry, there are inherent risks associated.”
