Product Hunt, a Y Combinator-backed website that lets users share and discover new products, announced this week that it has partnered with Blockstack, a project building a browser for decentralized applications on top of the Stacks blockchain.

With this partnership, Product Hunt will incorporate its¬†proprietary ranking system into Blockstack’s App Mining algorithm.

According to the announcement,¬†Product Hunt will rank Blockstack dApps based on whether the product solves a true problem, uniqueness of the solution, general popularity and the quality of the development team’s execution and usability.

Last May, Blockstack launched a $1 million initiative to support blockchain developers to create truly decentralized social network alternatives. Blockstack, which is notably backed by the Winklevoss Twins, is investing in projects as long as they have a unique approach to building decentralized applications that preserve digital rights, privacy and user choice.

Leveraging Product Hunt’s ranking algorithm, dApps¬†can earn a share of $100,000 every month through Blockstack’s¬†App Mining. The top ranking dApp earned $5,000 last month and the top-3 include decentralized Google Drive, Telegram and Twitter competitors.

These dApps are extremely timely given the ongoing data security issues plaguing centralized platforms.
