Well, there you have it. The final trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker was released during halftime of the one-sided affair between the New England Patriots and New York Jets and it was predictably underwhelming.
According to the official film description, The Rise of Sky Walker features the surviving Resistance as it faces the First Order once more. Rey, Finn and Poe Dameron’s journey continues while Rey leverages the power and knowledge of previous generations to take on a familiar foe: Emperor Palpatine.
The latest trailer gave us the biggest sneak peek at the locations and plot points for the upcoming film, with a long shot of a vast water world where Palpatine is seemingly hiding a fleet of Star Destroyers and Rey does battle with confused villain Kylo Ren.
While the latest film further begs the question, “why does any of this need to exist,” a short clip in the trailer further exemplifies how inept Disney (DIS) is at running the Star Wars franchise. At 1:45 in the trailer, there appears to be a cavalry charge in the middle of an interstellar battle full of futuristic energy weapons.
This shot, which strongly resembles a scene in 12 Strong, further drives home a fact that we all must accept: Star Wars sucks now.
