Steem, a blockchain-based rewards platform for publishers to monetize content, just reached a major milestone. According to a blog post, the project’s social blockchain has recently surpassed one million registered accounts and the number of new users is increasing at an accelerated rate.

Steemit, the first social network and largest DApp built on the Steem blockchain, accounts for the majority of the accounts. To expand its blockchain ecosystem, Steem introduced the Smart Media Token (SMT), a native digital asset on the Steem blockchain that can be quickly launched by anyone to help monetize online content and create incentives to encourage desired user behavior. The two largest DApps next to Steemit are eSteem, a blogging and photo-share platform, and Busy, an open-source social network and communication platform.
Also included in the Steem post was a rundown of the current blockchain stats.
“Every day, the Steem blockchain is producing more than a million transactions. That is more transactions per day than all other blockchains combined!”
“There are around 60,000 unique accounts transacting on the Steem blockchain each day.”
“Steemit.com gets over 250,000 unique daily visitors, and there are hundreds of other DApps interacting with the Steem blockchain, which have large and growing user bases.”
Steem was recently ranked the second best blockchain project by the Chinese government. This rank was based on three major factors: technology, application and innovation. This same ranking system had Bitcoin ranked 13.
