The Tezos Foundation, the organization behind Tezos (XTZ), recently announced that it has launched a mainnet faucet that releases small amounts of free XTZ for development and testing purposes.

According to the announcement, the faucet releases 0.01 XTZ every 10 seconds. Users must enter a Tezos address and complete the captcha prompt to enter the queue to receive tokens. The queue has a maximum of 10 addresses. Addresses that have been in the front of the queue will receive the XTZ then are blocked from participating in the faucet for 12 hours.

“We offer this faucet to the Tezos community for testing and development purposes,” stated the Tezos Foundation. “However, this is a development faucet and we advise that no one should depend on this faucet’s continued availability. We may turn off or change the faucet’s parameters in the future.”

XTZ is currently trading for roughly $1.55, so each faucet payment is worth roughly $0.0155 in XTZ.
