Animoca Brands subsidiary TSB Games revealed last week that the third round of the LAND presale for The Sandbox, an upcoming decentralized 3D voxel game world, brought in roughly 3,400 Ethereum (ETH), worth roughly $450K, with 99% selling out in the first 5 hours.
The third presale included 12,384 LAND parcels, 10% of The Sandbox’s virtual world, at a 20% discount to the public LAND price of $48 in ETH.
Additionally, 19 new games and organizations joined the metaverse in the third round of the pre-sale, with the most notable being gaming giant ATARI.
“Together with ATARI, we are going to recreate game experiences inspired by their most popular games,” reads the announcement. “Players will be able to play versions of Roller Coaster Tycoon or Asteroids with a 3D voxel look. We are also planning on building an Atari theme park-like universe with a variety of their game titles.”
The first presale took place in December, with 2.5% of the map (3,096 LANDS) selling out in 4 hours. That sale featured a 40% discount for participants. The second presale took place in February and 5% of the map (6,192 LAND parcels) was sold.
The Sandbox will have five rounds of LAND sales in total, each with decreasing discounts on purchases. Over the course of the multi-round presale, a total of 123,840 LANDS will be sold, which represents 74% of the total metaverse.
