TRON (TRX), a blockchain infrastructure for a decentralized internet, has announced a partnership with MOSHROOM, a startup smart toiler provider in China, to bring cryptocurrency and the blockchain to public toilets.

According to the announcement, MOSHROOM, which is supported by the Chinese government, already has a number of portable smart toilets distributed across China. Through the new partnership with TRON, the MOSHROOM smart toilets will be brought onto the blockchain, enabling bathroom goers to pay in cryptocurrency. MOSHROOM will also gain technical support from TRON to facilitate cross-border mobile payments.

In a statement accompanying the announcement, TRON CEO Justin Sun shared his belief that TRON’s ecosystem will improve the portable bathroom experience.

TRON hopes to help MOSHROOM improve bathroom experience for more ordinary people in developing countries, with a focus on cross-border payment settlement. We would like to make sure that this project continues in an effective and healthy manner with a good business model.

The companies plan to first launch the cryptocurrency-enabled portable toilets in Southeast Asia and India, but there has been no indication of the timeline.

TRON is currently ranked 10th in the AltDex 100 Index (ALT100), a benchmark index for large-cap cryptocurrencies and tokens.
