CamSoda, a cam model streaming site that is currently the 3,963 ranked site on the internet according to Alexa, has joined PornHub in accepting cryptocurrencies on its platform.
As detailed in a recent report by Hard Fork, CamSoda users can now purchase on-site tokens, which are used for tipping models, using cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin (BTC), Litecoin (LTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Ethereum (ETH), TRON (TRX), Monero (XMR) and Zcash (ZEC).
By leveraging cryptocurrencies, CamSoda users can instantly purchase services on the platform while models can benefit from drastically lower fees and secure transfers.
“Say you’re an independent model in Romania, and you earn $500 a week,” CamSoda VP Daryn Parker told Breakermag. “To get that wire might cost you $100 in fees, so it really takes a significant dent out of your work.”
CamSoda notes that it has been receiving requests from customers wanting to pay in crypto every couple of weeks. Since launching the feature last week, Parker says crypto sales have made up less than 1% of CamSoda’s transactions, which is higher than he expected at this stage.
This number is similar to the “less than 1%” reported by Pornhub for its crypto payment option. While the company did not specify exactly how much revenue that equates to, Pornhub had more than 28.5 billion visits last year alone.
