Halo 5: Guardians, the fifth installment in the main Master Chief storyline, is available for free for Xbox Live Gold users through the end of the weekend.

According to the announcement, Halo 5 is the latest game to be featured in Microsoft’s Free Play Days — special events that are exclusive to Gold members — giving players the opportunity to try out hot games for free.

“Tell your friends to queue up their downloads and jump in to play some Halo 5 for free. We have a solid offering for the players jumping in to test the water, we’ll be leaving Holiday Fiesta and Castle Wars up over the weekend and into next week,” the Halo team said in the announcement. “Oh, and Double XP, yeah – that’s staying on through the weekend too. For those of you keeping track at home, that means that Double XP will have been live for over a month since kicking into effect before the holidays!”

This is a big weekend for the Halo franchise, as the Halo Classic presented by UGC is currently in full swing. The esports tournament features 128 teams that will compete in both Halo 3 free-for-all and 4v4 battle modes and is taking place in St. Louis with a prize pool of $35,000.
